International Building Code Overview |
This fast-paced seminar explores the major provisions of the 2006 International Building Code. The presentation will introduce students to the provisions of the code including: occupancy classification, types of construction, means of egress, fire sprinklers and fire-resistive-rated construction, administrative provisions and accessibility. This class is designed to provide an introduction to the code. The class will also discuss the relationship between the contractor and the building department. | ||||

Aerial Work Platform and Forklift Training |
•Comprehensive classroom presentation on both OSHA and ANSI requirements •Forklift classes will cover both Industrial and Rough Terrain forklifts. •Aerial Work Platform class covers all high reach equipment, booms, scissors and personnel lifts. •Written test to ensure comprehension. •Compliance cards issued at the end of class to participants who pass test requirements. •Support training documentation furnished to employers for company records. |

Advance Conduit Bending |
Student will learn conduit installation techniques including planning, measuring layout and efficiency. How to apply simple mathematical formulas and planning to make conduit installation more efficient and profitable. Student will learn to be proficient in hand bending, Chicago style benders, bending with hickey benders, large scale bending, table benders, hydraulic benders and electric sidewinders concentric bending. The overall objective of this course will be to enable the attendees' to increase their productivity and the quality of their conduit installations. MUST have previous experience bending conduit. | ||||

Basic English |
Basic English Includes: – basic greetings, phrases, numbers and key expressions – express likes and dislikes and ask key questions about work and quality of work – tell time, days of the months and understanding work schedules – specific terminology concerning safety issues – specific information and commands in English are given that are needed to work and perform job duties. |

Topics Covered Include: Safety Electro Selection Basic understanding of setting welding ampage and voltage Welding positions which include: Flat, Horizontal and Vertical Application on 1/8 – 3/8 thicknesses Welding configurations will be fillets and grooves. Blueprints Seminar |
This course covers the development of blueprints from the initial idea through approvals, how to read construction documents, the purpose, types, and format of shop drawings, and to determine when construction uses contract drawings or shop drawings. | ||||

English as a Second Language |
Two classes are offered: Basic English and Reading and Writing English. Basic English included basic greetings, phrases, numbers and key expressions; tell time, days of the months and understanding work schedules; specific terminology concerning safety issues; specific information and commands in English are given that are needed to work and perform job duties. In the Reading and Writing English class the students will improve their speaking, reading and writing ability in all major tenses, such as past, present and future. The class will also aid the students in the comprehension of documents and improve the students’ ability to respond in written form. |

Introductory Skills for the Crew Leader Class |
The crew leader plays a key role in the operations of a construction company. As the first line of management on the job, the crew leader is responsible for supervising workers in an effective and efficient manner. Once a construction worker is promoted to the position of crew leader, he or she becomes involved with managing people. As a supervisor, the crew leader will use new skills. These skills include problem solving, planning, scheduling, estimating, controlling the use of job resources, such as material and equipment and knowing how to perform the work in a safe manner. Practicing effective human relations skills, such as motivating workers and communicating with them, are also an essential part of the crew leader’s job. |

Swing Doors Seminar |
Seminar provides hands on instruction and practice on the proper procedures for installing various types of frames and door is different types of construction. Topic covered : Door Bucks Installing Frames in: In Hollow Metal Jambs, Metal Studs Walls, Pre Existing Concrete and Double Door Openings, Swing Doors. Objectives: Upon Successful completion of this course, the participants will be able to : •Discuss safety and tools as related to installation of jambs and doors •Describe and demonstrate the use of a door buck •Explain the proper procedure for installing various types of construction doors and jambs |
